The bad thing about putting down your intentions, thoughts and feelings in a post is you cannot take it back after people have read it. Most people who read posts tend to internalize what they read and almost always the post is not understood the writer intended. The net result after many posts is misunderstandings, hurt feeling and regret on the part of those involved if they were friends. It is sad, because of human nature and pride, things do not get worked out and people go their separate ways. I know we have booted and banned people and stripped them of their tags. But to my understanding the reason we traditionally have always waited so long to give tags was because they were supposed to mean something special. To most of us we are more like a family; many of us have even gotten together outside of our virtual world. Others have given members equipment, software or technical help because of this familial atmosphere. Because we stay on top of the profanity and bulling many of us have pulled in our friends and family members in as well (with a short wait time for tags), because we all worked together to create a safe environment. Part of taking an active role in being a family is giving 100% even when you feel others are not and having and understanding that some are fun to be with even though you cannot count on them for much more that being there. In the past some have had disputes with others and laid their tags down, after reconciliation they have picked them back up.
I personally think we should throw this big misunderstanding into the dust bin of history and work it out. Everyone likes to have historical roots, and have a place in time where it all started. For us it’s a kid and his dad and memories of Freedom whooping out tales with just a bazooka. It’s nice to remember and reflect back on the early days, even if it is only a couple of the elder members telling the stories. After Freedom’s family announced that they could no longer keep up with the server and passed the torch, Rapidzap and I manage the donations and maintained the server, but we pretty much made all our decisions on the *WDA* server by committee of those who were currently active. Checking in with Freedom as a matter of respect letting him know what we were doing, but truth be told the *WDA* clan has always been a democracy.
Let us get back to an idea that has been passed around in public and private for quite a while, lets drop the *Ts* tag and reunite the clan with a single purpose. This idea has been around long before Squash’s post on the topic, so don’t put it on him. We need to restore our democracy the *WDA* clan belongs to all of us, One *WDA* and one Motto; *WDA* FOREVER! With the understanding once *WDA* you are always *WDA*. You can leave your tags at the door, but they will right were you left them when you’re ready to come back. It is not Tsunami’s clan or even Freedoms’ Clan it is our clan and it belongs to everyone we let in. I am not saying that we should not honor or respect those who founded, guided or moved the clan forward, but we still have to do what we have to do to protect the clan as a whole.
I move that we put up a pole for the purpose of taking a democratic vote. I know that truly in our hearts none of us want to see the clan torn apart or disbanded. Finally I move that everyone start wearing one universal tag *WDA* from this moment on, so everyone please pick up your tags don’t leave.
